Re: [RC] Witezarif - heidiFantastic horse and pretty close up to one of my favorite sires, WitezII.... Also a son of the wonderful mare Razifa, who also produced El Karbaj and AERC National Champion Law Thunder, all by different sires. Her daughters went on to produce even more top endurance horses. Not to take a thing away from *Witez II, who was a great sire, but this was one heck of a mare dynasty! one thing, though...in some of the photos in the older book, "Endurance and Competitive Trail Riding"by Wentworth Tellington and Linda Tellington-Jones, 1979, he looks pretty lean. Was that back in the era when endurance horses were thought they should look like greyhounds when fit? Maybe before studies showed that horses with higher body condition scores or more cover did a bit better.....there is also a photo of Cougar Rock (the horse); was quite ribby. Then again, maybe thats why the horse did so very well.....?! I suspect he might have done even better with a little more weight, but on the other hand, he simply was not a stockily-built horse. And he was ridden HARD, not just on the endurance trail, but also in the Fitzgeralds' dude business.
