Re: [RC] AHA - Bette LamoreHey-- as long as we are talking about AHA there is big news! They just changed the rules for Sweepstakes and there is BIG money for Sport Horses now--- imagine-- they are now recognizing ATHLETES!!! and good CONFORMATION! Perhaps our letter played a little part in this change of attitude. There is now BIG money ($100,000) awarded to athletic horses and it is not so easy to buy your way in. There is a $25,000 prize for the high point horse and Nationals and Regionals DON"T count!! That gives the normal person the chance to go to neighborhood and small shows to gather points. Good news for you folks is that more breeders will start breeding for athletic ability and the breeders on this list have already been doing that :-) The bad news is that prices will go up for great endurance quality horses as there will be a demand for athletes- not just pretty faces--- yet GOOD news for those of us struggling breeders :-) Not strictly endurance yet I expect it to impact this branch of the horse market for all purebreds.
