Re: [RC] HiTie/corral panels - heidiThat is the biggest problem with them. All it takes is one horse to get loose, run through the corral, tear it down and then take the horses IN the corral along with them, to keep running through camp and through the next electric corral. Corral tape, fence posts and running horses scattering through camp can get ugly. The most I counted were 9 horses loose at one ride, although I bet that is not the record...... Had somewhere in the low teens loose at a ride in central Oregon several years back. Some were not found in time for the ride, and some had to be stitched up from barbed wire cuts, after roaming for miles around in the BLM. I'm not a fan of electric pens at rides at all, for that very reason. I tied to the trailer for years, and do now take panels--but they are regular 12-foot panels (lightweight variety, but still considerably heftier than the "portable" ones) and they hook directly to the trailer. They are a bit of a pain to load, but I can manage them--just--by myself. Hubby designed and welded brackets and they ride on one fender very securely.
