Re: [RC] Injured Riders and Horses - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: patty pattypeck85@xxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Teaching your horse at home that saddles or anything under the belly is to be accepted is key. They instinctually want to kick, stomp, out run anything that is hanging off their bellies. It is therefore so important to defray this situation. I took my arab mare on PCT on the high hunt one year when we arrived at our camp it was dark, raining, sleeting, snowing and I didn't have a space blanket to put on her so I left her saddle on and went to sleep. When I awoke in the am I found her hi-tied with the saddle under her belly and she was SLEEPING!! Boy was I glad she knew it was only her saddle.
