I did pretty good - I will never do another one. I have a lot of friends that still run marathons. They love them. Hell, some of them are as even as old as Morris (they too were on speaking terms with Moses) - but marathons are not for me. Back when we worked together in DC I would go out and run with them at lunch, nowever, when the Marine Corps marathon rolled around they were there I wasn't. My old agency now has a marathon for all employees and ex-employees. My buddies keep trying to get to enter - I have told them I would if and only if I could ride my horse! And that's a reason why I love endurance riding. I love being with my horse - althought I bitch it from time to time about my horse - and endurance is the best way I know of spending time with your horse unless you are camped in the Wind River range in WY and you can ride into a good trout lake and catch dinner. That's pretty close to being as good as endurance, ten mile ride in, fly fish and a 10 mile ride out to camp - actually maybe better than endurance because you have a great dinner after you get back. ;-) There is not other horse sport to match distance riding - independent on who supplies the brains. Truman The horse provides the athletic ability. I used to think I provided the brains but Drubin and Super say otherwise. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
