Re: [RC] Time off before 100's - Dabney FinchTruman wrote:"However, if a horse has to be rested a couple of weeks prior to a 100 so they can do it and then rested 3 weeks after a 100 to recover, maybe one should consider that a 100 is just too hard on that particular horse for its long term welfare." I don't think anyone in this discussion is talking about horses that "need" that, but rather how we can help them be their personal best on the day of the ride--and those that they do for (hopefully) years afterwards. Personally, I'd rather err on the side of extra time off after a ride because I do think that helps heal everything up and thereby increases their longevity. But I agree this is only good if they have a lot of space (and a buddy to encourage them to use it is good too). ----- Original Message ----- From: "Truman Prevatt" <tprevatt@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jlong@xxxxxxxx> Cc: "sherman" <sherman@xxxxxxx>; "ridecamp" <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, January 13, 2005 5:11 PM Subject: Re: [RC] Time off before 100's Joe, you did. > Truman =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
