Re: [RC] 100s - Barbara McCraryAnswers: 1) Absolutely we will be around......for a LONG time yet. With or without FEI sanctioning. 2) We have been asked to FEI sanction, but I haven't done so other than a couple of times, mainly because of the extra costs and extra effort. There is plenty to do to keep the ride on track with it being just AERC sanctioned. If someone offered to do ALL the necessary paperwork as was done a few years ago, I would have no objections. I just don't have the time and energy to do anything more than I do now. I do all of our paperwork, contacts, purchasing, organizing, and with Lud, trail clearing and a bit of the marking. I do have a lot of help from family and close friends on the flagging and light stick placement. We run a long ride with a short staff. It's always been that way. Okay, sounds to me as if to answer your ultimate question, the first issues are : 1) "It seems to me that most of these local 100s would be around without the FEI sanctioning;' 2) "It is FEI/ AERC I that is courting AERC ride managers to co sanction rides not the general AERC membership." Only with positive responses to both the above, I'd think, could we assume: "FEI officials/volunteers should be bending over backwards to engraciate themselves to the AERC entrant so the average AERC rider will have a positive FEI co sanctioned experience.." Would love to hear feedback from RMs who have --or have declined to have--dual sanctioned rides: Jackie, Barbara, Terry, the Biehls, the Biltmore people (sorry--and those other RMs whose names I don't know); Steph?-- 1) can/will you stick around with/without FEI sanctioning,? and 2) are you being/have you been, courted by AERC/FEI to co sanction rides? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
