Re: [RC] To tie or not in a 2-horse bumper pull trailer - Dyane SmithMelody Messer thmess@xxxxxxxxxxx wrote: ========================================== I am about to embark on my first extended trip with my horse (about a 9 hour drive). Usually I bring along a friend's horse in my 2-horse bumper-pull, and we tie both in the straight-load trailer. They have trailered very well. This time I am pulling only my horse and am thinking of removing the trailer's center divider, and leaving my horse un-tied. What I have read about trailering leads me to believe the horse will be able to adjust her weight and stance better without the center divider, keeping her from tiring as much on the trip. I loaded her yesterday without the divider and she was able to turn completely around in the trailer. She did seem a little wary of the new configuration. Melody, I don't know if you have a step up or a ramp, but be very careful that you will be able to tie the horse before you open the trailer to let her out. You could be very squished if you have a ramp and she decides to unload while you are lowering it.
