Re: [RC] Stats on 100s; Now FEI v. Backyard 100s - Dabney FinchLikewise Swanton Pacific, 20 Mule Team, and Californios--consistently good 100 mile turnouts even in the "pre-FEI years."From what I hear, 100s are expensive to put on, and due to the early am hours involved, can scare off even devoted volunteers--anathema to RMs. No wonder those RMs who have against the odds continued to put on 100s are considered noble, and some of them are now considering dual sanctioning. This makes sense because it does seem as if FEI has replaced ROC in the minds of the "new" generation of 100 mile riders as the inspiration for completing 100 mile events. Particupating in a ride that has dual AERC/FEI sanctioning isn't necessarily a bad idea. If you don't like FEI, just do the ride without participating in the FEI part. If the FEI component helps pay a RM's costs these days, then that's a good thing; because it means RMs can continue to put on the 100s for all the rest of us who couldn't or wouldn't invest the time, money, stress or even interest in hauling our horses far overseas. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Maul" <mmaul@xxxxxxxxx> To: "ridecamp" <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, January 10, 2005 3:50 PM Subject: [RC] Stats on 100s In response to:The high profile 100's are those that are primarily supported by those interested in FEI." =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
