  You might want to check the article on this in the new Western Horseman on 
this,which I only skimmed.But apparently some horses get into some sort of a 
self-perpetuating thrashing panic back there,and when they start exhibiting 
this,the sooner you can re-group,re-arrange,re-train for trailer riding  the 
better,as this can become a chronic panic behavior(?)
