[RC] re: horse climbing trailer partition - Cindy Collins

OK. Here's my story about how Crystal got me a new trailer. I had always
hauled my horses in a straight load trailer without problems. I did want
a newer trailer for a variety of reasons, but it kept getting put
off...always something else to spend money on. Then, I started trailering
Crystal with a friend who had a slant load trailer. We went on trail
rides and marked trail for her ride for several months. Never thought a
thing of it. Then, we decided to use my trailer to go on a ride. Crystal
loaded fine, but as soon as I started moving she begin kicking at the
center divider. I'd stop and check on her and if I was still, she would
be OK. Soon as I moved the trailer she fought it. She finally tore
through the wood and fell through it. LONG story...she got out without
injury, but the trailer didn't. We tried hauling her without the divider
and she was fine as long as she could stand "slant". She never would
accept a straight load after that. So, I got a new trailer instead of a
new horse. She's a double Bezatal granddaughter, a gift, and was/is worth
more to me than a trailer (my husband was not so sure!). So, just
wondering, was your mare ever hauled in a slant??? Cindy
