One more practical suggestion, If you live in a
snowy area consider the ridge pole line. You do not want wet snow
cascading off of the roof onto your neck when you go in a door. The same
for a run in part. A shed roof is much more practical. Then the snow
can slide off on the closed side. If it can slide off on the entrance
side, a bank will build up. Eventually this bank of compacted ice and snow
will restrict the height. A friend's horse got a severe head cut when the
clearance on his shed was restricted by the ice bank.
