Re: [RC] Purina?? I have ?'s in addition to yours on this subject - Tiffany D'VirgilioThis is just my experience. I have a fat mare and a thin mare. The thin mare I have had trouble keeping weight on in the past. I have fed Complete Advantage for a couple years and have added Ultium and flax and she is doing wonderful. No more ribs or hipbones. She doesn't get high off of it. I feed more CA than Ultium, but as long as she stays on it she does great. I know it is pricey, but it's great to NOT have a ribby horse. I have tried so many feeds, but I'm pretty sold on Purina at this point. We used senior on most of the rescues going thru the AHRN and they did well on it. As for hay, they get bermuda, three way and alfalfa/orchard mix.The fat mare? Stays that way on thin air and three way. Maybe we are related:) Tiffany On Apr 27, 2005, at 11:06 AM, Letstalkhealth@xxxxxxx wrote: <x-tad-smaller>I am also trying to decide if I want to change feed and am in the process of comparing Ultium with the one I am using now and also Strategy.? In my comparison of Protein/Fat etc. % there is a great difference in the two.? Ultium is not considered a grain,? it has much higher fat content and lower protein.? The flier on it really explains why this is needed especially for the sports that require endurance, or long periods of energy.? I do wonder though of those of you who use it do you still use beet pulp and vitamins and minerals?in addition to the Ultium?? I would imagine that there isn't enough beet pulp, but wanted others who were more experienced to tell me what they do when using it.? Do you recommend it Susan G?? I am still legging up, but plan to really do some heavy (not to fast) conditioning and several 50-75 mile rides this season.?</x-tad-smaller> <x-tad-smaller>?</x-tad-smaller> <x-tad-smaller>LIsa Smith?
