Re: [RC] Hooves - rides2farIt all has to do with the terrain. I don?t think you?d find the U shaped> feet in the Rockies. My guess, from your description of the hooves, is> that the horses are in sand most of the time. I dunno about that. I went to a big Arabian farm in Florida to look at their 4 & 5 year old "close-outs". These horses had been raised in huge fields with tons of room to run their whole lives. They all had huge big round feet and they were not closely related. They had been kept trimmed, but their feet were so round I could not imagine them running on the track (which they'd been bred to do) with them that large. I asked the trainer about it and he said being raised on sand did that. Trivia Question: How many of you who were horse crazy kids read the old book "Sand Dune Pony" about a kid who catches a horse from the ones that run the dunes and most of the cowboys won't have them because their feet are so big. >g< Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
