[RC] Bareback Riding - mkrumlawThere is no AERC rule requiring a saddle be used during a ride, though I have received a ride flyer or two that state Ride Management requires that a saddle be used. I can't remember which rides, I just thought it a funny thing to include in the ride flyer. During my years of ride management I've had three people try to ride an LD bareback, and one a 50. All but one of the 25 mile riders finished the ride as did the 50. To be honest though, they didn't look very good after the ride and most of the horses backs were really sore. As they were all different riders I only remember seeing one of them on the trail again, and we only saw that person for 3 rides that season and never again.
