I am speaking of wheat bran, the same as is used in bread etc. It is added to the beet pulp because the pulp is high is calcium and the bran is high in phosperous. I don't believe your adult horse will be in trouble UNLESS you are also feeding Alfalfa, which is also high in calcium.

We feed beet pulp to weanlings and yearlings in the winter, and adding the wheat bran assures the CA/Phs. ratio is reasonably in balance. We also feed it to any horse that is lacking in condition or needs additional weight gain. It is a wonderful addition to the horses's diet. Just Google, beet pulp and wheat bran and you should receive lots of information.
