I also use a mohair girth...got it from sport tack. My horse is very thin skinned, and he's never shown any problems with it.

Horsehair girths are the best I have ever used. They last longer and clean up better never any sores from them either/I have a friend had one made over a hundred years (1800s stamped) ago he used/US CAVALRY it worked well/we had ours custom made but one can find standard western rigged ones/The English and McClellan rigged may have to be custom made. I also like my mohair ones very well.
