[RC] re: Dixie Midnight - Claire NystromKathleen, I have had this problem with some of the horses I've ridden with the Dixie Midnight-- a very sensitive skinned, chestnut, TB to be exact. I tried it on him and he went nuts, switching the tail, etc. I only rode for about five minutes, took the pad off and retacked him without it and he was fine. I'm not sure that a horse could be allergic to rubber, but some horses have such sensitive skin that the bumpy surface of the Dixie Midnight could just be too rough for them. If I ride a horse with a very fine coat and with sensitive-type skin, I do not use it as I know it could annoy them easily. I would just ride without it and use a pad that you know she's comfortable with.
