“Dolly died of a viral infection present in the
breeding of Roslin Institute where it was born. It succumbed to this virus with
other animals of the same herd and not clonés. Its death was not related to the
cloning, and it did not show premature signs of aging. Its arthritis, declared
at the 5 years age, is a very common disease in the ewes of this age, and this
disease was present in other animals of the breeding. The scientists of Roslin
Institute published a scientific report following the death of Dolly
(international Conference of transfer of embryo, Portland).”
