RE: [RC] [RC] Concrete hoof - Linda CowlesHi Lani, I'm a barefooter, and *love* using chunks of recycled concrete for building strong hooves. If this is concrete, big chunks - baseball sized or larger - it'll really get your horses feet conditioned! But you said "asphalt"; do you mean blacktop? That seems like it could make a mess. Rather than remove it, you can consider dumping enough road base, crushed concrete or gravel on it to cover it thoroughly... I'd imagine 4 inches of rock would do it. Now my mares each have one hoof with whatamounts toconcrete packed into it, and so far we have not been able with hoof picks to remove it. HELP! Any ideas on getting this out oftheir feetwithout damage? Poor husband figures he's got to remove $300worth ofcrushed asphalt, not to mention feeling bad about theirhooves. ThankGod they're not wearing shoes. Please post privately as thisis fairlyurgent and I'm on the digest. Thanks to anyone with any ideas!
