[RC] riding shoes (how wide is wide) - JonniIf you think you have wide feet, I'd try on a shoe before buying. I know a few folks have luck with purchasing shoes on line, but I will never be able to do that without trying them on first, to determine the size. Ariat Terrains are a great example. The woman's run "wide" I have been told. They are listed as a B width. The men's terrain are listed as a D width. I can not fit in the men's. Not wide enough. Some of y'all only THINK you have a wide foot. My normal shoe size is a E width. What I have found, that fits my truly wide foot, is the Roper brand "Horseshoes". They are of the same style as the Terrains. (soft leather, lace up, look more like a hiking shoe) They have a small heel, with spur rest. I can buy them for about $50. I have to buy the men's, to meet the width requirements. I have Ariat classic half chaps, and took scissors, and did some small slits on the back of them at the bottom, through the elastic gusset to let them spread to fit over the tops of my riding shoes better. Total cost of alteration.....about 5 seconds of time. Jonni =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
