[RC] Tying Up - Linwood N. GrayI have also recently been having problems with my 7 year old Arabian mare tying up. Did two LD's with her last year and she did great! About 3 months ago, she began having episodes of tying up under various conditions, none the same. She is warmed up properly, goes through most of her workout and when we are cooling out she starts tying up. My daughter has also been jumping her and seems to do just fine. I have had bloodwork done and it came back within normal ranges. She is fed a grass mix hay most of the time or a grass/alfafa mix, not overfed. Her weight is normal now, although she was overweight for a while. I give her Vit E and selenium supplement, but she is still very stiff after conditioning. She is also on Equi-Plete Training supplement. Her protein levels came back in normal range also. She gets only a handful of Purina COB to mix with her supplements which is 8% protein. I am perplexed as my daughter and I are looking forward to a good ride season this year, she now rides the mare. Any help would be appreciated! My vet said it could be hereditary and there is nothing that can be done for that.
