Re: [RC] Reactor Panel Saddles - to Ridecamp guest - Lynne GlazerHi, Shayne,16" is kinda small. I ride in a 16" RP (custom)--the standard saddles start at 17", go up in half inch increments. Subtract 2" to get the Western equivalent, so 16" minus 2 = 14". (for the others) The panels come in short, standard and long. Riders in 18" seats and above get long panels by default. Selecting the right tree that matches the horse's shape is Job 1 of course, trees come in quarter-inch increments. Of course the preference is to match a saddle to your horse's wither/shoulder tracing for a perfect fit because it's not just the width, but the pitch/angle coming from the spine as well as considering the arc of the topline. Part of why there are so many models from which to choose, deep seats, flat trees, etc.. Lynne RP Summit, though the cross-functional is my favorite cheered after a glorious conditioning ride through the wildflowers and oak groves, whoo hoo!
