Re: [RC] battery operated fence chargers - Truman PrevattI use 4 foot long 3/8 inch rebar for the corner post of my portable pen. They are pounded into the ground about a foot deep. I just hook the ground to these. For a good ppermiminatee ground for a pulsed signal you need at least two ground rods no 8 foot into the ground with the rods at least 8 feet apart. Else you set up a ground wave and the charge can not drain to ground fast enough and you will get current leakage (people shocked) in you electrical circuits. For an adaquate ground for a portable pen steel one foot in the gound works just fine. You might have to throw a bucket of water around it. I've even used a horseshoe pounded into the ground. If you don't think it's good enough - talk you spouse into grabbing the wire and see what they think - as you run for your life ;-) . That seems to give it enough ground to do the job as long as there's some moisture in the ground. If the ground is hard and dry, you might have to pour some water where the metal post will go., -- “With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things.
