RE: [RC] fuel costs affecting ride schedule - Tracey SmithI know I am weighing in kinda late on this but fuel costs are also affecting my ride schedule this year. That combined with starting a new job, which while I really like it...is a 65 mile round trip commute each day....vs my old job where I had a company car (can you say FREE GAS) and officed from home. But the lack of stress from the new job makes the drive tolerable and we are moving to a new office closer to my home sometime in May.
That being said...now having to pay for gas to work...means less $$$ for diesel fuel for the truck to haul the horses. So, Like others I will be taking on additional work to support my "horsey habit". I sold Avon previously and made enough from my sales to pay for my horse board and feed and ride fees and will be going back to that.
Even so...I went to 9 CTR's last year and this year will likely only make 4. I'd hope to do 4 endurance rides this year as well...but who knows if that will happen. I am sticking to the rides within Texas for the most part and will share hauling to rides when ever possible to save fuel costs as nothing irks me more than to haul one horse to a ride when I could buddy up with someone.
