Re: [RC] New Cuyama XP Ride - Laney HumphreyIt's a great ride but not flat by any means. How many horses are you planning to ride? If you just have one, go really slow on day one to make sure you've still got horse for day 3. There are lots of great folks who will be riding at the back so you'll have wonderful company - and most of them are among the highest mileage riders in the sport! Given the rain we're having now, I'd plan to bring rain gear for you and at least a rain sheet and maybe light blanket to put under it for your horse. Plan to cover your horse with something at night even if it isn't raining. The temperature should be pretty mild during the day.Enjoy each minute, go slow, ask questions and don't be disappointed if things don't work out the way you've planned - i.e., your horse isn't conditioned enough to do two 50s in 3 days. With that in mind, unless you plan to stay all 3 days anyway, plan to get there as early as possible and park so you aren't blocked in if you decide to leave early. BTW, parking is always REALLY tight. Have a great ride! Laney Sharlene Roberts-Caudle wrote: I'm wondering if anyone who has done this ride before has any hints for me? This will be our first time--and only our second ride. I'm entered for Saturday & Monday. Thanks for any information!!
