[RC] "gaited horse saddles" - Ridecamp Guest

Field trialer here.I am more and more skeptical of this concept. My old
TWH/MFT cross Chico has had every saddle imaginable on him over the years with
no effect on his gaits. The universal pattern trooper saddle, overwhelmingly the
saddle used on our field trial TWH's,is certainly not a saddle developed in any
way with gaited horses in mind. The typical veteran trial TWH is a high withered
old pro with a big hollow below the wither, where the bars of the trooper saddle
lay, supposedly where they would cause all sorts of problems.Yet these horses do
thousands of miles a year, for decades, with nary a white mark or gait
problem. Some gait better than others and some few can't canter down a hill
worth a darn-but changing the saddle won't help these horses a bit.
