[RC] "Easy" mare <rated pg-13> - JulienneHey everyone, I wanted to get feedback on what my options are with my mare. With the lovely springtime weather arriving, she's gone into full-blown heat. In past years this hasn't been a problem, she'd just hang out by the gelding pasture with her butt pointed towards them and making it be known that she was available, but now she's in a mixed pasture with both geldings and mares and she has captured the attentions of one particularly amorous suitor. He's a HUGE 17hh bay gelding and Isabella is a small 14.2hh mare - they've been squealing at each other the past few days and I'm afraid it may have escalated to mounting behavior because last night I saw a bite mark on her back, swollen and tender to the touch. Argh, we finally get nice weather and I can't ride because of her wound! She's an angel under saddle because she knows she can't get away with this behavior with me, but out in pasture is a different story. Moving her isn't an option because there is only one other pasture that also has geldings, and stalls (don't want to stall her). Any suggestions/shared experiences? Don't really want to go hard-core with Regumate, so I'm considering Moody Mare or Mare Magic as a first alternative. I'm afraid she'll get hurt if this behavior continues. Julienne & Isabella (access to boys?? LOVING IT!) __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
