NOT
in my wildest dreams did I ever think Hawk and me were going to ride all 6
days of this new ride in Florida. Before I start I will say this was a
FIRST class event all the way thanks to all who helped make it that
way. The game plan was to ride the Pioneer and maybe one other day to
make it 205 miles well worth the trip down. This seemed like a good plan
although I was thinking that it's a lot easier to say your going to ride 4
days than to actually do it. I could not even remember the last time I
did a 50/50? By day 4 I found it amazing what Aleve, vaseline and bandaids
can do. By day 5 the timers knew my # and Hawk had quite a
cheering squad supporting him. He also had a smorgasbord every hold as
we were last and he just would go around and clean up the food and hay left
behind. By day 6 we were both in shock as no other horse had done more than
4 days and here was this big Morgan(that everyone kept calling a Belgian)
still going. We turtled for the 3rd day in a row and earned a lot of
respect from the vets most of whom had not seen Hawk before. My biggest
compliment was from Irving telling me I was now the boilest of all boiled
owls! thanks Irv! Morgan Power!
