[RC] dressage saddles as endurance - Diana AndersonI am looking for opinions on dressage saddles used in endurance. I have an Albion SLK coming for trial and am now getting cold feet. Anyone can email me direct at jojosylvester@yahoo. with your input. Here's the story:
Thoroughbred with nerve injury that caused shoulders to be uneven, old non endurance saddle pinching. Horse is sound with minor atrophy. Horse and rider always been Hunter/jumper, eventers and mom always dreamed of a well fitting dressage saddle. - In the one season I have ridden LD I have seen many dressage saddles. I am second guessing the lack of skirting to dissipate my weight and what I call the "twist" which puts me "deep" into the saddle on his back. This saddle is coming early next week and I have one day to use it and decide. I am working with a professional saddle fitter so the fit should not be the problem. She has had what she calls endurance/trail riders who use this saddle all the time. The one thing I have learned in the year I have been with this sport is there is a BIG difference in true endurance and "endrance/trail" riders. And I have only done 25's so far. This is not a 100 mile
horse.
I have scheduled a lesson and an afternoon rental of an indoor so I and my horse can spend hours in this saddle. But it will not be the same as riding terrain. Any and all opinions or histories would be appreciated
