Re: [RC] Postive Coggins test in Chico, CA??? - Truman PrevattWhen I moved to Sarasota, FL the YMCA had a stable and they providing riding lessons. All of their horses were donated horses that were EIA positive. These horses were not sick and the stable manager told me there vets bills were normally smaller than a regular stable of it's size because they didn't have to pay to test. All their horses were under quarantine and they had sufficient land to insure the necessary separation between their horses and others. There are not many cases and few positives you hear about in FL any more. It seems that it takes a bitting fly bitting one horse and landing on another horse right next to it and bitting it to transfer it or as you say a common needle.
