Re: [RC] Camping in the rain----SHELTERS - Karla Watson
Has anyone out there devised a good shelter to
set up over your corral panels? Our horses would go under a shelter but I
haven't quite figured out a good method of doing it. Any suggestions or photos?

My horse will never to into the shelter that is provided. No matter
what the weather or how hard it is raining he will stand outside. I can
even put hay out in the shelter and he will stay out in the rain eating.
>>>It
is MISERABLE for the horses to be tired to horse trailer in the
rain. When out on good pasture, the hroses will get into a place with
less rain and/or wind.<<<
Nope, mine don't go under
shelter, they don't go under the trees, they don't go where the wind is
less. Silly boys just keep eating, and turn their tails to the wind, and
get soaked. At least, when camping, * I * feel better about them, as I do
put rain sheets on them. At home, I can get them into the barn
area,(again, to make *me* feel better) but they really would rather be
out in it, and keep looking over the gates towards the pasture. The
advantage to having pasture, is they can move around some, and maybe that
keeps them warmer and / or more comfortable. As to Annie's horse,
she said the horse is normally in the barn, so I would do as mentioned
earlier. Either put in the trailer is the horse will tolerate it, or get
a good rain sheet.
At one ride, it was so muddy, and nasty in
camp, I pulled my trailer mats out of the trailer, for the horse to stand
on. Anything to make them a little more
comfortable.
