Re: [RC] What features do you find most comfortable in tights? - Vicki AustinFor spring, summer and early fall I personally like plain old nylon lycra or supplex WITHOUT any patches (with the exception of self patches for durability) , pads, stirrups, loops or anything else. I don't even wear chaps, and rarely wear tall boots. For winter I prefer sherling power stretch or polartec thermal stretch 2000s, again with no patches, pads or anything. They are the most comfortable for me. Lets you slide a tiny bit so you don't chafe but not to much because of the lycra in the material, (like tiny fingers of rubber). I love color so I make all kinds of wild colors for fun as well. (like one leg red and one leg blue with strips of the oposit color) --- sharon1359@xxxxxxxxxxx wrote: A little informal poll... I'm going to order myself a pair of the Supplex tights that Carousel makes now (they say they're like riding practically naked - great for summer!) so I can evaluate them for my customers. As I thought about what features I wanted, I decided it would be helpful to get an idea what you all like to wear! After all, most of you have been doing this WAAAY longer than me and you've got a better idea what's comfortable. Carousel says Supplex is really durable, so I was thinking maybe I'd opt for NOT having grippy knees because they really might not be necessary to protect the pants from wear. Also, I wonder about friction... do you think over a long distance the friction of the suede against the leather contributes to chafing? I'm asking because on one rainy ride, my friend wore her grippy-knees tights and had chafing problems, but I in my nylon wind pants did NOT... and I suspect it was because there was less friction. I also wonder if maybe the less pliable/stretchy suede makes wrinkles and causes chafing that way over time. Do you like padded knees, or do you feel that the extra fabric bunches up and the resulting wrinkles cause chafing after a while? Do you like a padded seat? Do you actually think it helps make the saddle seem more cushiony? Do you like stirrup feet? Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. :) -Sharon K. ============================================================ You don't have to be a 100-mile rider or a multi-day rider to be an endurance rider, but if you want to experience the finest challenges our sport has to offer, you need to do both of those. ~ Joe Long ridecamp.net information: http://www.endurance.net/ridecamp/ ============================================================ __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
