[RC] hauling horses, again - Elysa Braunstein

My poor old car is wearing out, and I'll soon be in the market for a new vehicle. It needs to serve double duty, as a commuter car and as something that can haul a horse trailer (with a horse in it!). I think I'm starting to wear out my welcome in my friends' trailers. I've read the posts on half-ton and 3/4-ton trucks, but I also commute up to 100 miles a day and would like to get something with better gas mileage. I've been thinking about a medium-sized SUV and a Brenderup (they only require a 93 inch wheelbase), but the Brenderups are over $14,000. Does anyone here have experience with a medium or large SUV pulling a 2-horse trailer with a tack room? Which SUVs, and which trailers? Thanks for your input!
