When I was working and sharing rides, I needed to park in a store parking lot that had a bunch of signs prohibiting that. I nicely talked to the store manager. He took my license number and told me where in the lot I could park. I would call the church office and find out what committee or person was in charge of the building. In a Methodist church it would be the trustees. Get on their agenda at their next regular meeting. I would guess that if you promise to pick up the horse tailings etc. you will have a good chance of getting permission. If you just park there, someone will become concerned eventually and you will be told that it is a no-no.
