Re: [RC] [RC] JRT Puppies - BuffyIf a breeder is making having both parents on the premises a selling point, run the other way!!! OK, now this I agree with! I've seen a lot of people advertise both parents on premises because they have two pets they bred together. However, to loop everyone into this category isn't fair. Think about it. This is so true. To me (I have been involved in showing dogs since 1956) it is always a red flag when someone advertises "both parents on premises". To me that means puppy mill, unless that stud dog has a win record, either in conformation and/or some type of performance events. Well, maybe not a puppy mill, but probably a backyard breeder. Hold on a second if any of you object to that statement. Here's where it's logical to have both the dog and the bitch on the premises. In a dog breeding program that has existed for several generations, perhaps the breeder has been breeding towards that magical stud and the magical bitch. They *should* be trying to do that. In that case, they might have both on the premises. (Or at least own both even if one resides elsewhere most of the time.) BUT THEY DON'T TELL PEOPLE OR ADVERTISE THEY HAVE BOTH ON THE PREMISES! Because it's not significant. The long-term breeding program is. As a puppy buyer, make sure their breeding program produces what you want. Um, trying hard to make this endurance related, but having trouble thinking of something.... other than breeding is breeding, endurance horses or dogs!
