Re: [RC] Equine head injury with brain exposed - Patsy DavisMaryanne, I'm sorry to hear that the mare died but with that severe of a head injury it would be a miracle if she did survive. She must have had a very hard blow to the head and that would have caused brain swelling and increased intracranial pressure probably resulting in brain herniation. In humans with that kind of injury the proper drugs can help prevent that outcome. What a mystery as to the cause of the accident. Please let us know if you learn what happened.
