[RC] [RC] Norco is on Fire - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Nicole nkinsey@xxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== We were out riding in the hills yesterday afternoon and did not see the fire, which we would have had it been burning. By the time we got down into the riverbed we started to smell it, then we saw the smoke and even the flames and could hear the fire itself! It was very scary. We doubled back and went home via the streets to avoid being caught down in the riverbed. When we saw it, the fire seemed to be just barely outside of the housing development off Arlington/California and by the powerstation and nursery that backs into the riverbed (for those familiar with the area). The wind was blowing towards the river, so we knew we better not try to get past it that direction. Here's a news clip: http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/local/7969818.htm Scary to think we could have been trapped in the riverbed on horseback! It wouldn't have been quite so bad if the other half of "we" wasn't my beginner-rider husband on a very out-of-shape broodmare. ~Nicole =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
