I had a landlady who owned a Jack Russell. She (the dog, not the landlady) attacked a German Shepherd and ended up with over 100 stitches in her throat. The first thing she did when she got home was hobble into the yard and try to bark at the German Shepherd. That is the classic JR personality in a nutshell. The people I know who have them seem to have high vet bills! The jack-rat crosses seem a little mellower.
