Hi Laura;
I've used Mohair Girths for years, and believe me, I ride in deep snow.
The Mohair girths from Sport-tack are washable,
have a D-ring in the middle and I've never had any trouble with chafing.
I don't know about the HRM, as I don't use one (but I need to now for
training for the WEC to monitor km pace. How about the Timex Bodylink?)
