[RC] Folks who don't use HRMs - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Skyla Stewart SLStewart@xxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== By the time "we" get done with you, you will decide that you "can" live without a HRM. I have not used them much at all, and when I do, it is to monitor the pulse at the vet check. I too am a heavy weight, more like "clydesdale" (new weight devision?), and can relate to what you said. The horse I have now, is all but impossible to use the HRM on. I can get it to work at the vet check, by wetting and pushing it in on him. I am shy my 5000 miles, and have ridden every placing possible, and had several BC's this last year. Just listening and using good sense can do as much and more for you. I have been luckey as the horses I have ridden, have all been pretty honest about how they feel. Without the HRM, I ride by "my" instinct and horse, not by the written numbers. HRM's are great for a tool, but they are not the "is-all-end-all". Knowing your horse, and knowing yourself are the best "tool" and cost effective. To enjoy the trail and the company of your horse, is the best award, regardless of how you place. That fills the heart much longer and brighter then placings and prizes. ;o) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
