re the Great Quest for Good Raingear....just bought/will try a suit of the Frogg Togs;(what's another few $$$$$$,I've long since bought and discarded enough outdoor clothing to pay for a house).This is a new-age paper-like fabric;one is almost unaware of them in terms of weight/freedom of movement.Like Gore-Tex,the proof of the pudding will be in whether the seams/stitching leak/wick.Haven't yet put mine to the test,but three friends have,and they like them a lot.Will this odd fabric tear easily? We often ride through briars,etc; so far nobody's has torn.
