I was subbing in the high school one time for a couple of weeks when I 
also had a parakeet nestling that had to be hand fed every hour.  Poor 
thing ended up with the name "Nugget" as my son commented that it 
looked more like a Chicken McNugget than a parakeet since it didn't 
have a feather on its body.  I kept her in a small box on my desk and 
fed her with a tiny spoon.  The kids thought it was a riot.  Even the 
admin didn't mind because she was quiet...and they really needed me to 
sub.
