[RC] Horses and ribbons - Dot Wiggins

I know some horses will follow ribbons, even ifother horses go the wrong
way. My QH stud (Scotch and Soda) saved me several times. Early in his
endurance career we were following a group up a hill, not a trail he had
been on before. He just stopped, at first I thought he needed a breather,
not like him. In a bit I heard riders that couldn't find the trail or
ribbons. While waiting to see where the front runners would find the
correct way I looked around and Scot and I were standing right where the
ribbons turned off. He knew we had to turn there. He always knew where
camp was, or the trailer, but figured out early on that the correct way
back to camp was follow the ribbons even if it was the "wrong" way.
