I've been told by a neighbor whose friend uses GPS
extensively for treasure hunting of fossils & other collectible items, that
the GPS cannot accurately measure the added distance on grades. Don't know
if this is true, but if it is it could cause the difference in your
mileage. It might be worth contacting the manufacturer to see about
this.
