Re: [RC] white feet(and legs) - Truman PrevattMy perfect horse would have all black feet and no pink skin. I've never noticed any difference in black and white feet except in wet conditions and my experience is white feet become softer in wet conditions than black feet. My farrier claims they are "more porous" so absorb more mosture. I don't know if that's true or not. Pink skin seems much more prone to scratches - at least from my experience.I sure would not eliminate a horse that had white feet ( I have one in the pasture with three I am bringing along) but I'd perfer black. I have had more trouble dealing with scratches on horses with white feet....as that usually means they have white socks (and pink skin). I personally have not had a horse get any form of scratches that had dark skin on the legs, but, did have a horse with 3 white legs with pink skin, and he never, ever got scratches over the 17 years I had him. All the cases of scratches I have dealt with over the years were pink skinned legs.
