while shingles, aka herpes zoster, are not as contagious as
herpes simplex, they are still contagious and "a person lacking varicella
immunity can acquire chickenpox from a herpes zoster patient" taken from
Mosby's Medical Dictionary.
Shingles are not contagious. They
are a "left over" virus from chicken pox, of the herpes variety, but they are
not contagious. Believe me, I have suffered with them for years
and they are not "spread" by contact.
