[RC] re: [RC] Ez boots or Old Macs??? - Michelle Fink

I have had Old Macs work their way off on multiple occasions. Seems related
to the boots getting really wet, stretching, and me being on a really long
ride in the mountains. Maybe the steep terrain stresses the wet leather
causing the stretch plus the muddy horse's hoof makes it easy to slide off
of? I dunno for sure. Also had a Boa come off under the same conditions -
it's still up on the mountain somewhere. :-( I have not found any hoof
boot to be infallable in my terrain. Also have had both Boas and Old Macs
rub hoof bulbs.

Over the last couple of years, I've had better luck with good old Easyboots,
applying DT to the hoof first. Worst problem has been the latch flipping up
when brush catches it just right.

Happy Trails,
Michelle
