Re: [RC] [RC] [RC] Kids, ponies and distance riding... Get a grip people - Karen Sullivan----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara McCrary" <bigcreekranch@xxxxxxxxxx> It is certainly stupid and cruel to force some little kid into endurance riding if he doesn't want to, but I would think the flak that comes from the kid....whining, crying, whatever...would be enough to discourage the parent from continuing such force. Maybe not. I still think that parents should have some right to judge what is best for their kids, and I just don't see this as an epidemic.Barbara *Hi Barbara...I think at some point the issue of wether or not the kid is enjoying the ride or crying becomes irrelevant. It still comes down to a developmental and safety issue. Also, what will it hurt any to have a sensible, common sense minimum age?. Who is it really going to restrict. I respect your feelings regarding increased gov. controls and laws but lack the faith you have in parents making good decisions. Have seen some incredibly stupid parents and totally dangerous and negligent parenting. People seem to accept a minimum age for Tevis...and I bet you if there wasn't one you would see many more grade school kids ( or below) on that ride.
