Well Lori, I am in no mood for a flame war either (it's almost beer-thirty),
so I will follow up your post with an apology because your retort appears to
slam the equine veterinarian profession.  To all the vets out there, I am
sorry that this is where the discussion lead.

My experience, in particular with distance vets, is that they are an
incredibly insightful resource (especially with lameness issues!), and I am
so thankful that they are there when we need them.  If there's anyone that I
expect to understand how the biomechanics, hooves, and shoeing of a
particular horse helps or hinders him, it's veterinarians.
